Money

According to a new poll commissioned by advice agencies Citizens Advice, Advice UK and Youth Access, money is the top worry for young adults, ahead of their health and the welfare of their families.

The poll shows that more than half of all 16-24-years-old says money is the issue currently worrying them the most, with nearly one in three saying that they worry "all" or "most" of the time about their problems. It also revealed that people aged under 24 are among the mosly likely to say that they need advice, but also the most likely to say that they put off dealing with the big worries in their lives.

Barbara Rayment, Director of Youth Access, said: "This poll adds to growing bady of evidence that young people access the expert advice they desperately need all too infrequently. Unresolved social welfare problems such as debt and homelessness can have a devestating impact on individual young people's healt and wellbeing, as well as having a major knock-on effects for wider society and public spending. The case for urgent investment in early intervention rights-based advice services targeted at young adults is not overwhelming."

Citizen Advice has launched a viral marketing campaign aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds to encourage them to access advice services. The campaign consists of an online game where young people use a virtual Citizens Advice Superhero to "bat away" problems that come towards them. Play the game here!
