108 Young People Ask for Youth Assembly
Wednesday 21 November 07

Through the work of WIMPS, 108 young people descended on Stormont yesterday to call for the creation of a Youth Assembly for Northern Ireland. The young people met the two Junior Ministers in the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister, Gerry Kelly and Ian Paisley Junior on the steps of Stormont, where they were also joined by a host of other MLAs from other parties.
The event was jointly organised with the Office of the Children's Commissioner, and Patricia Lewsley also attended the event and spoke to the young people about the importance of participation, and challenging politicians to listen to the needs and ideas of young people.
Thank you to all the young people that took part! Keep on discussing what the Youth Assembly should be like on the Forum!
