Stop Wasting Food!!

Wednesday 27 August 08

At the G8 conference in Japan, Prime Minister Gordon Brown has told us in the UK to "Stop Wasting Food" and explained that unneccesary purchases are contributing to rising prices.

According to the government study the UK wastes 4m tonnes of food every year, adding £420 to a family's shopping bills. It states the average household throws away £8 of leftovers a week, yet spends 9% of its income on food.

So what are your thoughts on the rise? It is the conversion of arable food producing land into biofuel crop? Or maybe the wastage of food as it proceeds drop the supply chain from farmer to retailer to consumer? Of course you could go left-field and suggest that the wastage of food at the G8 over the three days as a result of feeding politicians from 23 countries, the attendant media and the security cordon of 20,000 police certainely doesn't help!!

Either way thoughts and comments in the forums please...
