Make the best of our skills?

“You’ve got the skills... We'll help you to make most of them”. You might have seen this slogan in some of the numerous billboards all over Northern Ireland. Apparently that is the catch-phrase that the British Army has chosen for encouraging young people to join the army. However, many of these youngsters could agree that “making the most” for them might be slightly different that “making the most” from the military point of view. Of course it depends on your views, values and principles and on which is your opinion about the best way of solving problems or helping communities to develop democracy.

For a group of EVS (European Volunteer Service) volunteers currently living in Belfast the advertisement warrants a meeting. We are having a gathering in which we will discuss about it and it's impact. Afterwards we will try to make public our conclusions.
