Eight Good Reasons

Tuesday 28 August 07

“Eight Good Reasons” is a programme based on the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) which cover a wide range of targets aimed at issues such as havling extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS, as well as providing equality and universal primary education – all by the target date of 2015!

“Children in Crossfire” worked closely with eight different schools in the CiXLondonderry/Derry area to research and form action projects around the MDGs.

What you see here is an example of one of the dance routines that accompanied the presentation by Oakgrove Integrated College at the final display of project outcomes, held at The Millenium Forum.

WIMPS aim to update you with ALL of the project presentations, including powerpoint displays created, in the near future. Keep coming back to WIMPS for regular new videos on this.

But for now we hope you enjoy the dance.

Lumen Christi College (To Halve World Poverty) presentation is also now avaialble to view on our main Media page by clicking HERE

St Peter’s College High School (Universal Primary Education) available to view HERE

Other schools involved, coming soon…

Thornhill College (Gender Equality)

St Columb’s College (Reduce Infant Mortality)

Foyle & Londonderry College (Environment)

St Joseph’s Boy School (Global Partnership – Debt)

(P.S., we know that although the crew from Oakgrove had serious fun developing their routine, they also did some serious in-depth research into their MDG – “Global Partnership – Children”)

Are you doing any action projects based on the MDGs, or something similar?

Send your material to WIMPS - either documents, video, powerpoint or pictures – and we will showcase your project right here for others to view and comment on.

How do you feel about the issues raised in the MDGs?
