Post subject: Let down by the DUP. 9 men are creating guantanamo

Today I think the DUP showed that they are still stuck in tribal politics and were not up to the moral standards of all the other MPs.

Did anyone else feel angered, ashamed and disappointed by the DUP MPs who voted for the terror law allowing people to be detained for 42 days?

Even if you were for the changes, I think you should still be disappointed by them. They made their decision because they made backhanded deals and demands of Gordon Brown, they didn't vote on whether they thought it was the right or wrong thing to do.

If you watch the video footage of the announcement of the votes you can see the other MPs pointing at the DUP members in disgust.

Is the point of MPs not to vote on whether something is right or wrong?

Do they actually care about anything other than their petty demands? Would they be willing to sacrifice all civil rights in exchange for these demands being met? If they aren't going to represent us properly in the houses of parliament then I think it would be most unwise for them to be elected in the future.
